Flower CSA Membership Terms
We offer a community supported agriculture program (CSA) in the form of weekly flower subscriptions. By signing up for a CSA membership, you acknowledge the following:
Rootspring Farm’s Growing Practices
While Rootspring Farm is not certified organic, we grow using organic practices. We do not use synthetic herbicides, pesticides or fertilizers. When absolutely necessary, we use organically-approved treatments on our flower crops. We’re actively working to improve health of the soil on our farm through our growing practices.
What's Included In Membership
Unless otherwise specified, CSA members receive one bouquet a week for the duration of the program.
Each season on the farm brings different flowers. Flower availability may change due to weather, pests, seed availability and other factors that affect production.
Tulip CSA
Tulip season varies in western PA, and typically starts in mid-April. We offer a variety of tulips. Bouquets may feature a mix of varieties based on what's in bloom.
Summer CSA
Typically starting in July, we offer summer memberships which include summer annuals, such as, zinnias, cosmos, sunflowers, celosia, dahlias and gomphrena. Bouquets change from week to week depending on what is in bloom.
Start and End Dates
Due to the unpredictable nature of farming, it is not possible to give the exact start and end date for memberships. Our goal is to provide you with flowers during peak season, so we will provide a start date once expected harvest dates are more certain. Estimated dates for memberships are:
Tulips: Mid-April to Mid-May
Summer: Mid-July to Late August
Pickup and Delivery
When you sign up for a membership, you agree to receive delivery or pickup at a single location. Any changes to delivery or pickup locations are at the discretion of Rootspring Farm.
Delivery
Delivery days will be communicated with members at sign up. Delivery dates will be determined by crop availability and will be communicated with members via email. Deliveries are made via contactless delivery. Flowers will be left on your doorstep in a bucket of cool water. Buckets will be provided by Rootspring Farm at the beginning of the membership and are to be returned at the end of membership.
Members who cannot receive bouquets via contactless delivery (for example, if you live in an apartment building) must be present to accept delivery.
Pickup
Pickup options are offered at our farmers’ market locations. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to market closing to pickup you flowers.
Unable to Pickup/Accept Delivery & Missed Weeks
If you are unable to pickup your flowers or accept delivery as planned, please email us at info@rootspringfarm.com with as much notice as possible (at least 24 hours). Options for missed weeks vary by season:
Tulips: Due to the short season for tulip, we are unable to accommodate missed weeks for tulips.
Summer: If you are away for a week during the summer CSA, you can choose to 1) skip the week and receive flowers for one additional week beyond the planned end of the membership. We are only able to accommodate make-ups for one week. 2) arrange for pickup by another person, 3) skip the week with no make-up.
Communications
Communication with CSA members will happen via email. We do request cell phone number and address for delivery members.
Cancellation and Refunds
Subscriptions are non-refundable. Transfer of memberships require permission of Rootspring Farm, and can be requested by email.
Crop Failures
Due to the unpredictable nature of agriculture, crop failures happen. If Rootspring Farm is unable to deliver a weekly membership due to crop failure, the farm may elect to refund a pro-rated amount or extend membership at their discretion.
